We need to gather at the beginning of the competition to set the tone for the competition and let everyone know about the rules, the schedule and other information. At the end of the competition we need to to wrap-up the competition. In the absence of champions and trophies we risk ending with a whimper. The organizer of the Rallies needs to set a tone at the close to solidify the sense that the Upper Valley is heading south as a team and that when we see each other down there we will see a friendly face and someone we might turn to for help.

Meaningful, non-competitive awards could be a significant part of this closing ritual.
